2183E Windows NT Device Driver Installation

If installing with a CDROM Drive.

  1. It is necessary that the CDROM drive be situated as a slave on the primary port, since the built-in ATAPI.SYS will NOT recognize the secondary port.
  2. Once installation is complete, rename the built-in ATAPI.SYS driver to ATAPI.ORG. Then copy the DTC ATAPI.SYS driver in place of the built-in ATAPI.SYS.

NOTE: CDROM driver (provided by drive manufacturer) must ATAPI 1.2 compliant.

  3. Reboot
  4. The CDROM can now be reconfigured to the secondary port if so desired.

If installing w/o a CDROM Drive.

  1. Once installation is complete, rename the built-in ATDISK.SYS driver to ATDISK.ORG. Then copy the DTC ATDISK.SYS driver in place of the built-in ATDISK.SYS.
  2. Reboot

NOTE: If installing Windows NT with a CDROM Drive attached, Windows NT will automatically load the built-in ATAPI.SYS driver, and NOT the built-in ATDISK.SYS driver. Only ONE driver can be enabled.
